How to Build a Pacing Guide
Count Your Days First
On page three, write the school days in the year, then give each unit the days it needs.
Check the Flex Days
Subtract planned days from the year's total, and keep what is left as flex days for the unexpected.
Lay Out the Weeks
Give each school week a row with its dates and number of school days. Skip weeks of break.
Place Units and Standards
Write the unit and its standards in the weeks it runs, then list the lessons and topics for each.
Update After Each Unit
Write the days a unit actually took and what to change, so next year's pacing is more accurate.
