How the Common Core Standards Are Organized

The Common Core State Standards set what students should know and be able to do in math and English language arts by the end of each grade. Each standard has a short code, and related standards are grouped into domains (in math) or strands (in English).

How to Read a Standard Code

Every standard has a short code. Teachers use it in lesson plans, report cards and test reports, and searching the code is the fastest way to find a standard here.

Also written 4.NBT.B.5, with the cluster letter, or CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.4.NBT.B.5. All three name the same standard and open the same page.
