Fraction Chart Example
One half shaded on every strip that can show it: 1/2, 2/4, 3/6, 4/8, 5/10 and 6/12 all end at the same line.

What's in the Fraction Chart
Strips from 1 to 12 Parts
One whole, then halves, thirds and on to twelfths, all the same length so they line up.
Labeled and Unlabeled
Page 1 has the fractions labeled. Page 2 has blank strips to write on and cut out.
Equal Fractions Show
Same-length strips make equivalent fractions easy to find, such as 1/2, 2/4 and 3/6.
Editable Versions
Edit the Word or Google Docs file before you print, or type straight into the PDF.
How to Use the Fraction Chart
Name the Strips
Point to the whole, then the halves and thirds, and have students say how many equal parts each strip has.
Shade One Half
Shade one half on the halves strip, then on every strip that can show it. The shading ends at the same line.
Compare Two Fractions
Hold a ruler down the chart to compare 2/3 and 3/4, and see which strip is shaded further.
Cut Out Your Strips
On page 2, students write the fraction in each part, color each strip a different color and cut them apart.
Build Equal Fractions
Lay the cut strips under one another to find fractions equal to 1/3 and write the matching pairs.
