How to Use the Lexile Reading Level Chart
Read the Ranges as Text Ranges
Tell your team the ranges describe how complex the texts in a band should be, not what a student scores.
Record the Fall Measures
Write each student's name, then the Lexile measure from your reading assessment in the Fall column.
Set a Goal for Each Student
Choose a goal measure with each student and write it in the Goal column to aim for by spring.
Add Winter and Spring Measures
After each reading assessment, fill in the Winter and Spring columns to see each student's change.
Match Texts to Readers
Look up a book's Lexile measure and compare it with the measure you recorded for the student.
