How to Use the Personal Narrative Template

  1. Pick a Small Moment

Have students think of one short time, such as a first try at something, and name it in the top field.

  2. Set the Scene

In the Beginning box, students write where they were and who was with them, then what they felt.

  3. Tell It in Order

Students plan the middle and the end in time order, adding a feeling in the paired box each time.

  4. Slow Down the Big Moment

Students write the most important part in detail, with what they saw, heard and thought in that moment.

  5. Say Why It Matters

In the last box, students write what they learned or what they will always remember about it.
