Pages not loading
- Refresh the page (
Ctrl + RorCmd + R). - Clear your browser cache.
- Try a different browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge).
- Check if the issue persists in an incognito/private window.
If none of that works, it may be a temporary server issue. Check our status page for any ongoing incidents.
Schedule not showing correctly
- Check your semester — make sure the active semester has the correct start and end dates. Your timetable only generates within that range.
- Check your timetable — verify that classes are placed on the timetable grid and that changes have been saved.
- Check your rotation — if you use rotations, make sure the rotation type and start date are set correctly. You can re-anchor a rotation day from the planner if things are out of sync.
Grades not calculating
- Topic mode — only Score-mode topics with a weight count toward the total. Select-mode topics and topics marked No Weight are tracked but excluded by design. Open
Classwork → Settingsand check the input mode and weight for each topic. - Topic weights don't have to add to 100% — EMStudio normalizes them automatically. So
Tests 30% + Homework 20% = 50%works the same as60% + 40%. The math still produces a sensible total. - Empty topics are skipped — a topic with no graded assignments doesn't claim its weight until the student has at least one score. Add a score and the topic starts contributing.
- Excused grades are ignored — if a student's average looks higher than expected, check whether some grades are marked excused. Excused grades are removed from the calculation entirely.
- Uncategorized assignments — assignments not linked to a topic fill in any leftover weight (the gap between your topic weights and 100%). If your topics already cover 100%, uncategorized assignments are silently dropped from the total. Assign them to a topic to be sure they count.
- Letter grade looks wrong — each topic carries its own grading scale. If a percentage is mapping to an unexpected letter, check that the topic is using the scale you expect.
Missing students or lessons
Make sure you're viewing the correct class. Students, lessons, and grades are always filtered by the selected class in the left panel. Try switching classes to confirm.
If you just imported students and don't see them, check whether they were assigned to a class during import. Unmatched students may have been imported without a class.
Standards not appearing in the lesson editor
The Standards tab in the lesson editor only shows standard sets that are linked to the lesson's class. If you don't see anything:
- Go to the
Standardspage. - Select the class.
- Click
+ Add Standardsand link a standard set. - Go back to the lesson editor — the standards should now appear.
