Build your schedule

In this article

Define your recurring weekly schedule by dragging class slots into a timetable grid. Once set, EMStudio uses this to generate your planner, track attendance, and keep everything in sync.

The timetable view

The timetable is where you define your recurring weekly schedule. It has two panels:

  • Left panel — your class list. Each class appears as a draggable card, color-coded to match its class color.
  • Right panel — a weekly grid. Days run across the top, time slots run down the side.

Your timetable drives everything downstream — the planner, the dashboard schedule, and lesson socketing all pull from what you set here.

Set your rotation type before adding classes — it determines the structure of your grid. Learn more about rotations →

Add classes to the grid

There are two ways to place a class on your schedule:

  • Drag from the left panel — drag a class card onto any time slot in the grid. The slot snaps into place, color-coded to match the class.
  • Click and drag on the grid — click an empty area on the grid and drag to create a new time slot, then assign a class to it.

You can place the same class on multiple days and times to match your real-world schedule.

You can also create a new class directly from this page by clicking + Add Class at the bottom of the left panel.

Adjust time slots

Once a slot is on the grid, you can fine-tune it:

  • Drag the edges — resize the top or bottom edge to change the start or end time.
  • Drag the whole slot — move it to a different day or time entirely.
  • Click the slot — open it to manually set the exact start and end time.

Remove a time slot

Click on any slot and select Delete to remove it from the grid. Removing a slot only affects the recurring timetable — any lessons already socketed to past dates are preserved.

Need to account for holidays or closures? Mark blocked days so your schedule adjusts automatically.

Auto-save

Your timetable saves automatically as you make changes. Updates sync to the planner and dashboard instantly — no need to publish or confirm. Once your schedule is built, link lessons to class slots to start filling in your planner.
