Manage semesters
In this article
Switch between semesters to access past or current data, and create new semesters when a new term begins. Each semester keeps your classes, grades, and attendance completely separate.
How semesters work
A semester is a date range that contains all of your data. Classes, lessons, units, students, grades, and attendance all live inside a semester. If you're setting up your first semester, see the quick start guide → When you switch semesters, you see only the data that belongs to that semester.
When a term ends, create a new semester and start fresh. Your previous semester's data is always there — just switch back to see it.
Create a new semester
- Click the semester selector at the top of the sidebar.
- Click
Create New Semester. - Set the name, start date, and end date.
- Click
Create.
Switch between semesters
Change your active semester from two places:
- Sidebar — the semester selector at the top of the left navigation.
- Settings page — the Active Semester dropdown.
When you switch, everything updates — classes, timetable, planner, grades, and attendance all filter to the selected semester.
Starting a new semester
When you create a new semester, you start with a clean slate. You'll need to set up your classes, timetable, and students again for the new term.
Take a few minutes at the start of each term to set up your semester properly — name, dates, classes, and timetable. Once that's done, you're set for the whole term.
