What is a multiplication worksheet generator?

A multiplication worksheet generator builds a sheet of multiplication problems for you, so you never write them by hand. This multiplication worksheet maker draws each problem from two number ranges you set, such as the 6s up to 9, or switches to multi-digit problems with up to four digits. It lays them out in neat rows and writes an answer key in red. Pick the facts, choose a layout, and download the PDF. Nothing to install, nothing to sign up for.

When do you use a multiplication worksheet?

Whenever students need repeated practice on facts they are still learning. Three moments where a fresh sheet beats a premade one:

A teacher at a desk setting up a times-table sheet on a laptop with a stack of printed multiplication worksheets beside it

Times-table practice for one fact at a time

Set the first number to 7 and the second to 1 through 10, and the whole sheet drills the 7s. Move on to the 8s next week. Every sheet has the same facts in a different order, so students cannot just copy last time's answers.

Homework and fact fluency

Send home a sheet that matches what the class is working on, from 2s through 5s or all the way to 12s. The answer key lets you or a parent check it in a minute, and a new sheet is one click away for the next night.

Moving up to multi-digit multiplication

When students are ready for 2-digit by 1-digit or 3-digit by 2-digit problems, switch the problem type and choose the number sizes. When the bottom number has two or more digits, the sheet leaves lines under each problem for the partial products.

Core features of
a multiplication worksheet generator

A good worksheet tool lets you choose the facts, then gives you a clean sheet. Here is what this one does, from the first setting to the printed page.

Choose exactly which facts to practice

With the Facts problem type, you set a range for the first number and a range for the second number, each from 0 to 1000. Each problem is the first number times the second. A hint under the ranges spells out the span, such as 1 × 1 up to 10 × 10.

  • One range for each number
  • Any number from 0 up to 1000
  • A hint that spells out the facts
You pick the exact facts

Switch to multi-digit problems

The Multi-Digit problem type sets the size of each number. The first number can have 1 to 4 digits and the second 1 to 3. Pick Custom range for exact limits. The longer number always goes on top.

  • 1 to 4 digits on the first number
  • 1 to 3 digits on the second
  • Custom range for exact limits
Up to four digits

Pick the number of problems and the layout

Choose from 1 to 100 problems, 20 by default. Set the format to vertical or horizontal, the problems per row, and the text size. Fill the Page adds just enough problems to use the whole last page.

  • 1 to 100 problems per sheet
  • Vertical or horizontal format
  • Fill the Page tops up the last page

More than a worksheet template

A premade sheet has fixed facts and one answer key. This one builds new problems from your ranges, works out every product, and gives you the key. It runs in any browser, including a locked-down school laptop.

A title that matches your facts

Set one number to 7 and the title reads "Multiplying by 7". Edit it and the directions on the page. The Name and Date row switches off in one click.

Title follows your facts

The longer number goes on top

In multi-digit problems the number with more digits is always the top one, the way students write it on paper.

Longer number on top

Room to show the work

When the bottom number has two or more digits, blank lines sit under the problem, one for each partial product plus one for the total.

Who is the multiplication worksheet generator for?

Narrow the ranges to one or two facts, use a large text size, and print only a few problems per row. Build the sheet around the facts a student still needs.

How EMStudio's multiplication worksheet generator is different

Many multiplication worksheet generators bury the download behind a sign-up, add a logo to the page, or give you no answer key. This one is built by the team behind a full teacher planner, and it treats a worksheet as part of your lesson.

Free, with nothing held back

The full PDF, the answer key, both paper sizes, and printing, all without an account or a daily limit. The only mark on the page is a small "Made with EMStudio" footer line.

An answer key every time

Every sheet comes with its own key, with each product in red. You never have to work the problems yourself to be sure the page is right.
