Use the AI assistant

In this article

EMStudio's built-in AI assistant helps you generate lesson plans, brainstorm activities, and refine your content — all without leaving the editor. It understands your lesson context and gives tailored suggestions.

Open the AI assistant

Click the AI assistant tab in the right panel of the lesson editor. It opens a chat interface where you can ask the AI for help with your lesson.

The AI reads and understands your current lesson content, so it can give suggestions that are relevant to what you've already written.

Chat with the AI

Type a prompt and the AI responds with generated content. Your chat is saved per lesson — close the editor and come back later, and your conversation is still there.

To start fresh, click Refresh to reset the chat.

Add content to your lesson

After each AI response, an Add to Lesson button appears at the bottom of the message. Click it to insert that content directly into your editor. You can edit it afterward just like any other content.

Ideas for using the AI

The AI assistant isn't just for generating lesson plans. Here are some ways teachers use it:

  • Generate warm-up activities — "Create a 5-minute warm-up for a lesson on photosynthesis"
  • Write discussion questions — "Give me 5 open-ended questions about the American Revolution"
  • Differentiate content — "Simplify this paragraph for ELL students at a beginner level"
  • Create rubrics — "Build a rubric for a persuasive essay assignment, grades 9–10"
  • Brainstorm ideas — "What are some hands-on activities for teaching fractions?"
  • Summarize or restructure — "Turn these notes into a structured lesson plan with objectives and activities"

The more specific your prompt, the better the output. Include the grade level, subject, and what format you want. For an overview of all AI capabilities, see Use AI in lessons →
