What is a word scramble generator?
A word scramble generator turns a list of words into a worksheet where the letters of each word are mixed up and the student writes the correct word on a line. This one shuffles every word in your list, numbers them, and adds an answer line for each. A hint after a comma prints under the letters. It also makes an answer key with every word filled in. Every word is mixed up
Each word is shuffled until it reads differently from the original. The letters print spaced out and numbered, with a line for the answer. A phrase like "ice cream" keeps its space and scrambles as two words.

Choose letters and columns
Print the scrambled letters in capitals or lowercase. Pick one column, with the answer line beside the letters, or two columns, with the line underneath. Add a title and directions, or leave the automatic ones.

How to make
a word scramble
Five steps from a blank page to a stack of worksheets, and typing the words is the longest part.
Type your words
Put one word on each line, up to 50, or paste a list from a document. Add a comma and a hint after any word. The note under the box shows how many words you have.
Choose letters and columns
Pick ABC or abc for the scrambled letters, then one column or two. One column puts the answer line beside the letters. Two columns fit more words on a page.
Add a title and directions
The title reads "Word Scramble" until you type your own. The directions change with your list: with hints they ask students to use the hint, and without hints they ask for the letters to spell each word.
Press New Scramble if you want another
Press New Scramble to shuffle the same words a different way. Switch to Answer Key to see each answer on its line. Do it as often as you like.
Download or print
Choose US Letter or A4, then download the Worksheet for the student page and the Answer Key for yours. Or press Print to send the sheet to the printer.
