Cursive Worksheet Generator
Type letters, words, or sentences and get joined-up cursive to trace, with practice lines underneath. Free in your browser, no sign-up.
What is a cursive worksheet generator?
A cursive worksheet generator turns the text you type into joined-up cursive for students to trace, with writing lines to practice on. This one joins each letter to the next, so a word is written as one connected stroke. Type letters, words, or whole sentences, one per line, and choose dots, faded, or solid letters. You may also hear it called a cursive worksheet maker. Download the PDF when the sheet looks right.

When do you use a cursive worksheet?
Whenever students are learning to join their letters or keep the habit going. Three moments where sheets built from your own text beat a premade packet:

Teaching the letters one by one
Type a letter pair such as Aa on each line, switch Each line to Repeat, and the pair is copied along the whole row. Students trace it, then write it themselves on the practice rows underneath.

Words and sentences from your lesson
Type the spelling words, a poem line, or a sentence from the book you are reading. Students trace the joined letters and write the line again below, so handwriting practice carries your own content.

Practice that fades out
Start the week with Dots, move to Faded, and finish with Solid, where students copy dark letters on their own. Same text, three sheets, and each one asks for a little less help from the page.
Core features of
a cursive worksheet generator
A good cursive sheet maker lets you choose the text and the amount of help. Here is what this one does, from the first line you type to the printed page.
Type what to practice
Put one line of letters, words, or sentences on each row of the box, and each becomes a line on the sheet. A hint under the box counts the lines and tells you when a long one carries on to the next row.
- One line of text per row
- Letters, numbers, and punctuation
- A hint counts your lines
Letters that join into words
Each word is drawn as one flowing stroke, the way it is written by hand, with the dots and crosses on i, j, t, and x added afterward. Capital letters are included, and the joins between letters are drawn for you.
- Lowercase and capital cursive letters
- Joins drawn between the letters
- Dots and crosses added last
Dots, faded, or solid tracing
Dots give a dotted outline to trace, Faded prints light gray letters to go over, and Solid prints dark letters to copy on the rows below. Turn on Starting dots to mark where each stroke begins with a green dot.
- Dotted, faded, or solid letters
- Green dots show where to start
- Directions change with your choice
Practice rows and letter size
Choose zero to three empty practice rows under every traced line. Pick a letter size for lines three eighths, one half, or three quarters of an inch tall. Repeat copies a short line along its row.
- Zero to three practice rows
- Small, medium, or large letters
- Repeat a short line along its row
Download the PDF or print it
The Worksheet download button gives you a PDF with every page. Print sends the sheet to the printer. Choose US Letter or A4, edit the title and directions, and switch the Name and Date row off if you want.
- One PDF with all your lines
- US Letter or A4 paper
- Editable title, directions, and Name and Date row
How to make
a cursive worksheet
Five steps from a blank page to a stack of sheets, and typing the text is the longest part.
Type your text
Put one line on each row of the Text to practice box. Use letters, words, or sentences, or paste a list. The example text is there to start from, and you can replace it at any time.
Choose how to trace
Pick Dots, Faded, or Solid under Tracing. A hint under the choice describes what students will see. Then set Practice rows, and pick Repeat if a short line should fill its row.
Add green starting dots
Switch Starting dots to On to mark where each stroke begins. The directions on the sheet add "Start at the green dots." on their own, so students know what the dots mean.
Add a title and directions
The title reads "Cursive Practice" until you type your own. The directions match your tracing choice. Change either one, or switch the Name and Date row off.
Download or print
Choose US Letter or A4, then download the Worksheet for your students. Or press Print to send the sheet straight to the printer.
That's the whole sheet
Type the text once and print as many sheets as you need. The generator is at the top of this page.

Get Started for FreeMore than a cursive worksheet template
A premade packet practices someone else's words. This one practices yours, joins the letters, and lets you choose the help. It runs in any browser, including a locked-down school laptop.
Three letter sizes
Pick small, medium, or large letters. The lines are three eighths, one half, or three quarters of an inch tall, and the sheet shows which.
Repeat a short line
Type Aa and switch Each line to Repeat. The pair is copied along its row, spaced evenly, which suits single letters.
A warning for odd characters
If you type a character the generator cannot draw yet, a hint names it and says it is left out. The rest of the sheet is unchanged.
US Letter or A4
Pick the paper you print on and the page is laid out for it. Long lines carry on to the next row instead of running off the edge.
Your settings are remembered
Your text and settings stay in this browser, so you can close the tab and pick the same sheet up later. Nothing is uploaded.
Free, and no watermark
No account, no sign-up, and no logo across the page. The only mark is a small "Made with EMStudio" line in the footer.
Who is the cursive worksheet generator for?
Anyone who teaches joined writing and wants sheets built around specific text. If a premade packet never matches the words you taught this week, it is for you.

Classroom teachers
Letters, spelling words, and sentences from the unit. Type the text for your class, print a copy for every student, and move from Dots to Faded to Solid across the week.

Tutors and homeschool parents
Make a short sheet for one learner and print it at the kitchen table. Choose large letters and starting dots for a beginner, and solid letters once they are confident.

Special education and support teachers
Build a sheet at the pace of one student. Add green starting dots, more practice rows, and larger letters, and print a fresh copy whenever the first one has been used up.
How EMStudio's cursive worksheet generator is different
Many cursive generators bury the download behind a sign-up, add a logo to the page, or offer only fixed alphabet sheets. This one is built by the team behind a full teacher planner, and it treats a practice sheet as part of your lesson.

Free, with nothing held back
The full PDF, every tracing style, both paper sizes, and printing, all without an account or a daily limit. The only mark on the page is a small "Made with EMStudio" footer line.

Your own text, joined properly
Type anything, from a single letter to a full sentence, and each word is drawn as connected cursive. You are not limited to a fixed alphabet page.

Part of a full teacher planner
A practice sheet is one small part of a week. When you are ready, EMStudio's lesson planner holds the rest: every class's lessons on a weekly calendar, beside your students, grades, and attendance.
