Give feedback that actually helps

Before you return any graded work, confirm:

  • The rubric was applied identically to every paper. Same criteria, same standards, first paper to last.
  • Each comment names one fix, not five. Students act on one; they skim five.
  • Progress reports go out on a schedule, not just when grades slip.
