Setting Up Your First Class
A step-by-step guide to creating your first class in EMStudio Pro with students, schedules, and lesson plans.
Now that you have an account, let's set up your first class. This guide walks you through the entire process from class creation to your first lesson.
Step 1: Create the Class
From your dashboard, click New Class. Fill in:
- Name — Something descriptive like "Period 2 — English 10"
- Subject — Select or type your subject
- Grade Level — Choose the grade level
- Color — Pick a color for visual identification
Click Create and your class is ready.
Step 2: Add Students
Navigate to the Students tab in your new class. You can:
- Click Add Student to enter students one by one
- Use Import CSV to bulk-add your roster
Tip
If you teach multiple sections of the same subject, create each section as a separate class. Students can belong to multiple classes without duplication.
Step 3: Set Up a Schedule
Go to the Timetable page and add time slots for your class. Select the days and times you meet, and the timetable will display your weekly view.
Step 4: Create Your First Lesson
Head to the Lessons tab and click New Lesson. The lesson editor gives you a rich text editor with support for headings, lists, images, file attachments, and more.
Step 5: Explore the Gradebook
Visit the Grades tab to set up your grade categories and create your first assignment. Once you start entering scores, the gradebook calculates averages and letter grades automatically.
