Grading Scales
Define custom grading scales to map numeric scores to letter grades in EMStudio Pro.
Grading scales define how numeric percentages map to letter grades (or any custom labels). EMStudio Pro comes with a default A-F scale, but you can create custom scales for any grading system.
Default Scale
The built-in scale uses standard American letter grades:
| Letter | Minimum % |
|---|---|
| A | 90% |
| B | 80% |
| C | 70% |
| D | 60% |
| F | 0% |
Custom Scales
Create a custom scale by defining your own grade labels and thresholds. Examples:
- Plus/minus scale — A+, A, A-, B+, B, B-, etc.
- Standards-based — Exceeds, Meets, Approaching, Below
- Pass/fail — Pass (60%+), Fail (below 60%)
Applying Scales
Each class can use a different grading scale. Set the scale from the class's gradebook settings. The gradebook will use the active scale to display letter grades alongside numeric averages.
Note
Changing a grading scale only affects the letter grade display — all numeric scores remain unchanged.
