Assignments

Create and manage assignments with types, due dates, point values, and category links in the EMStudio Pro gradebook.

Assignments are the individual items you grade in your gradebook. Each assignment has a title, type, point value, and optional link to a lesson plan.

Creating Assignments

Click New Assignment from the grades tab or gradebook view. Fill in:

Title — Name of the assignment
Type — Homework, quiz, test, project, participation, or custom
Points possible — Maximum score
Due date — When it's due
Category — Which grade category for weighting
Lesson (optional) — Link to an existing lesson plan

Assignment Types

Use types to categorize what kind of work the assignment represents. Common types include homework, quizzes, tests, projects, and participation. Types are flexible — you can use any label that fits your workflow.

Linking to Lessons

When you link an assignment to a lesson, it appears in the lesson's detail view. This creates a clear connection between your teaching content and assessment.

Quick create

You can also create assignments directly from a lesson plan. Open any lesson and click Create Assignment to pre-fill the lesson link.

Editing and Deleting

Edit any assignment by clicking on it in the gradebook. Changes to points possible will recalculate all student percentages. Deleting an assignment removes it and all associated grades.
