Managing Students in a Class

Add, remove, and manage students within your classes, including bulk import and multi-class enrollment.

Every class has a student roster. This guide covers how to add, manage, and organize students within your classes.

Adding Students

From the Students tab in any class, click Add Student to create a new student record. Enter:

  • Full name (required)
  • Email (optional)
  • Parent email (optional)
  • Student ID (optional)

Bulk Import

For larger rosters, prepare a CSV file with student data and use the import feature. The importer maps columns automatically and shows a preview before confirming.

Multi-Class Students

Students can belong to multiple classes. When you add a student who already exists (matched by name or email), EMStudio Pro links the existing record to the new class rather than creating a duplicate.

Student profiles

Each student has a dedicated profile page with their grades, attendance, notes, and portfolio across all classes. Learn more in Student Profiles.

Removing Students

To remove a student from a class, use the remove option in the student's row. This unlinks them from the class but doesn't delete their profile or data from other classes.

Student Tags

Use tags to organize students into groups (e.g., "IEP", "Advanced", "Needs Support"). Tags are visible across all views and can help you filter and sort your roster.
